Calling Dirk Strider an abuser is a heavy oversimplification of his character and requires one to ignore the differences between him and AR in intentions and behavior, Jake’s feelings about Brobot, and the differences between Brain Ghost Dirk and Alpha Dirk, among other things.

Anyway, Dirk actually has a lot of strong feelings about morality and he didn’t coerce Jake into a relationship nor did he flirt over-aggressively or sexually objectify him. That was all splinters that Alpha Dirk had no control over (BGD in particular was an amalgamation of what Jake picked up from the AR and his tendencies to impersonate Dirk, not a reflection of how Jake saw Dirk dammit). In fact, the fact that Jake hoped BGD into existence kind of implies that Dirk is a comfort to him and someone he sees as a protector.

Dirk cares about his friends. He dislikes the way the AR treats Jake. And while he’s emotionally distant and can’t communicate for shit, he wants to be his best self for his friends.
