so for everyone who’s seen fall out boy’s new merch…
let’s just say the logos probably ring some bells. now i know most of you remember that whole fresh only bakery/welcome to the new administration fiasco back in 2008 (linked here) so go ahead and guess what i’m about to say. i think all of this merch is total bullshit, because everyone who’s been around to really see fob do their thing knows that they try many stupid intertwining marketing methods that all lead up to something elaborate in the end.
now many of you may already be aware, but 2018 (the year of mania’s release) will be the 10th anniversary of folie á deux and overall just the 10th anniversary of all the stupid shit they liked to do to promote their album. i think because of how much backlash their new musical style has gotten, they’re using all of this stupid merch to build up an elaborate experience and show everyone who doubts them that they’re still the same band despite their changes between pre- and post-hiatus.
i’m assuming most of you have seen the fidget spinner. if you have, and you’ve been following what the guys have done subsequent to the release of the f*ll *ut b*y fidget spinners, you might have noticed a “mania corp” website linked in that obnoxious commercial on their YouTube channel.
i mean, i’m trying not to jump to conclusions here, but.
who wants to bet all of this is going to build to show that this “mania corp” is a fictional supercorporation that owns all of these companies displayed on the merch?
or maybe it’s just fall out boy being silly. i won’t try to sway your opinions too much, but they did mention something about a “mania experience”.
