before any one of y’all go out and say something rude about Russel in Humility knocking over 2D consider the fact that 2D’s eyes were completely white when he was roller skating like a pro and after he fell they went back to black and he could barely get a few steps forward!! 2D was possessed by a rollerblading loving ghost!! i love this lore!!
I had this dream that for some reason Mcdonalds was giving out Gorillaz toys to celebrate the new album and they would say things if u pressed a button like any good Mcdonalds toy and they were all nice except the Murdoc one said something like “Oi fuck my dick itches” and parents got ….mad
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Gorillaz. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of socioeconomic politics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Murdoc’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation – his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Gorillaz truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Murdoc’s existential catchphrase “Hi, I’m Murdoc Niccals from Gorillaz,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Damon Albarn’s genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools… how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Gorillaz tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
